The collaboration is aimed at enhancing the resilience and operational efficiency of the water infrastructure in Medio Valdarno over the next three years
Xylem, a water technology company engaged in addressing global water challenges, has reached a significant milestone in Italy’s sustainable water journey through an agreement with Tuscany’s Publiacqua.
The partnership aims to enhance the resilience and operational efficiency of the water infrastructure in Medio Valdarno over the next three years.
In a bid to fortify the region’s water system against fluctuating demands and environmental pressures like drought, Xylem will deploy cutting-edge technologies including meter data analytics, real-time leak detection modules, and predictive maintenance tools. These innovations will empower the region to proactively manage its water supply, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
At the heart of this collaboration is the implementation of Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua, a sophisticated software and analytics platform designed to streamline utility data and optimise water and wastewater services.
By leveraging advanced data analytics, Publiacqua’s operators and managers will be equipped to anticipate and mitigate potential pipe failures, thereby minimising disruptions and optimising maintenance schedules.
This proactive approach not only reduces operational expenses but also enhances the overall efficiency of the water network, safeguarding the water supply for the entire region. Publiacqua has a history of investing in innovative solutions to improve its water and sewage infrastructure, with previous integration of Xylem technologies yielding significant benefits in treatment processes and wastewater transport.
Through this latest partnership, Xylem and Publiacqua aim to revolutionise water management in Tuscany, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient water future.
Xylem senior vice president and Europe, water infrastructure and global services president Hayati Yarkadas said: “This initiative signifies more than just technological advancement; it impacts real lives. Given the urgency of climate change, water sustainability is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
“Our partnership sets a global example for tackling water challenges head-on. Together with Publiacqua, we aim to pave the way for a water-smart Italy.”
