Petrofac has been given a $265m worth contract from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for developing the Marmul Polymer Phase 3 (MPP3) project in Oman.

The contract is the first award won by the oilfield services provider under a 10-year framework agreement it had signed last year with PDO. The framework agreement will allow Petrofac to deliver engineering, procurement and construction management (EP+Cm) support services for the major oil and gas projects of the Omani oil and gas firm.
PDO frame agreement contract holder Said Al-Maktoomi said: “MPP3 is a key project for PDO. Upon completion it will significantly expand our Enhanced Oil Recovery programme for heavy crude.
“Petrofac has already demonstrated its effectiveness as a partner to PDO and our teams will continue to work with shared goals and true collaboration as we move forward.”
Under the scope of the contract, Petrofac will provide support pertaining to engineering, procurement and construction for the extension of off-plot and on-plot production facilities associated with nearly 500 producing and 75 injector wells.
Petrofac plans to carry out the engineering, procurement and project management activities from its office in Muscat which will be expanded to meet the needs of the MPP3 project.

Petrofac is already working on two projects for PDO, through an EP+Cm delivery model. This includes the $1.2bn contract given by PDO in March 2014 for the Rabab Harweel Integrated Project (RHIP) followed by the $900m contract in June 2015 for the Yibal Khuff project.
In Oman, Petrofac is also executing an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract of about $800m given by BP in last December for the Khazzan Phase 2 project.
