Texas-based Jacobs Engineering Group has bagged a contract from Saudi Aramco to provide engineering and project management services related to the Zuluf Field Development program in the Arabian Gulf.

The contract is for setting up onshore central processing facilities (CPFs) to process 600MBCD of Arab heavy crude oil from the Zuluf offshore field, which is located nearly 40km off the northeast coast of Saudi Arabia.
Financial aspects of Jacobs’ contract were not revealed but it is among the near $4.5bn worth agreements signed by Saudi Aramco with various oil and gas service contractors in November 2017 for its oil and gas megaprojects.
Under the contract, the US firm will be responsible for constructing onshore central processing facilities that include a new gas/oil separation plant (GOSP), gas compression facilities, a new water injection plant and also pipelines.
Jacobs Petroleum and Chemicals president Vinayak Pai said: “This landmark contract reaffirms our strong relationship with Saudi Aramco and our long-standing position in the Middle East.
“The Zuluf Field is one of the most significant developments of its kind, and through this project, we will support Saudi Vision 2030 by helping expand gas production and enhancing energy sustainability.”
Saudi Aramco plans to deliver the stabilized crude oil from the GOSP to the Ju’aymah terminal through new downstream pipelines. The separated gas and condensate streams will be moved to the proposed Tanajib gas plant through new pipelines.
Earlier this year, Saudi Aramco had given a contract to deliver engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for the Zuluf field to McDermott International. Under the contract, McDermott will be responsible for constructing a single well observation platform in the Zuluf field.
Apart from its contract for the Zuluf field, Jacobs Engineering Group had won a contract in neighboring Oman from BP in January for delivering engineering, procurement and construction management services for the Phase 2 of the $16bn Khazzan gas project.
