TENEX – winner of the Mitsubishi Research Institute’s tender

PowerNuclear

At the end of January 2018, after a competitive tender, JSC TENEX in a consortium with FSUE RosRAO, the V. G. Khlopin Radium Institute and JSC «SSC RIAR» was chosen as the Operating Entity of the project on the development of technologies for analysing the ageing properties of fuel debris subsidised by the Japanese government.

The project is managed by the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI, Japan).

Within the framework of the project, the State Corporation ROSATOM’s organisations will study the samples of corium and “lava” generated from the Chernobyl NPP accident, and will manufacture model samples of Fukushima Daiichi NPP fuel debris in order to develop a prediction model for the changes of corium properties with the aim of using it for post-accident clean-up at Fukushima Daiichi NPP.

The Director General of JSC TENEX Ms L.M. Zalimskaya said: “We view winning the MRI’s tender as another important step in the development of cooperation with our Japanese partners in the field of back-end.”
